Whitbread win kids menu award, sponsored by Birds Eye Foodservice

Whitbread were proud winners of the ‘Kids’ award – sponsored by Birds Eye Foodservice - at the inaugural MIDAS awards, for the children’s menu at their Table Table outlets.

Dave Rust, Head of Food at Whitbread accepted the award, and congratulated Alison Fennah, Beefeater Marketing Manager, who designed the children’s menus which now run across the entire Whitbread estate – including Beefeater, and Brewers Fayre as well as Table Table.

Commenting on their success, Dave Rust says: “At Whitbread, we’re committed to promoting healthier eating for kids across all our branded pubs and restaurants. Our children’s menus all have a tasty range of organic dishes available, many contribute to a 5-a-day offering, and all deliver value-for-money. The menus have been designed to be fun and engaging for children, offering a healthy selection of dishes guaranteed to appeal to kids, and the parents purchasing for them.”

Justin Burbage, Foodservice Director for award sponsors Birds Eye Foodservice praised Whitbread for their efforts: “Whitbread have an admirable, focussed approach to children’s food – delivering the perfect balance between enticing choices for children with great quality dishes that parents are happy to see their kids eat.”

“We share a similar commitment to healthier catering for children here at Birds Eye Foodservice, encapsulated by our ‘Captain’s Nutrition Mission’ – a guarantee of high nutritional goodness in all our children’s products.”

The full Foodservice range includes children’s favourites such as Omega 3 Enriched Fish Fingers, Steam Bag Vegetables (ideal for side-of-plate servings) and their innovative Soya Beans, which are proving extremely popular in school meals, mixed in as an ingredient in dishes such as a ‘Beanie Hot Pot’.

Birds Eye Foodservice’s sponsorship of the Midas ‘Kids’ award highlights their dedication to producing quality children’s food suitable for the pub sector, amongst other key foodservice channels.

The Menu Innovation Network has recently been created as a vehicle for group menu development managers and group executive chefs to interact and exchange information. The network enables operators to share ideas and discuss issues with their peers to continually improve and satisfy the demands of consumers eating away from home.
